Its election time and prohibition is back in focus in Tamil Nadu where the dry law was lifted about five decades ago.
Political parties, including the ruling AIADMK, opposition DMK and Congress, have pitched for a complete ban on liquor, albeit in a phased manner, making the promise in their respective manifestos for the April 6 assembly elections.
Total prohibition was in force in the state from 1937 to 1971 when the then DMK government headed by M Karunanidhi lifted it first.

OKLAHOMA CITY â Oklahomans may soon by able to get cocktails to go, purchase liquor at a drive-thru window and use an automated machine to dispense wine and beer as part of series of measures that have cleared the state House.
The most controversial of these measures would allow retail spirit licensees to sell alcoholic beverages in an original sealed container via a drive-thru window. House lawmakers at first rejected the proposal, but hours later reversed course and passed it.

That has been the unwavering stance of KC Regional Housing Alliance President Stacey Johnson-Cosby from the beginning of the pandemic and throughout the resulting rental crisis.
In December 2020, Congress allocated $25 billion for emergency rental assistance. About $600 million of that money has now made its way to Kansas and Missouri. The KC Regional Housing Alliance is working with United Way and other organizations to show renters and landlords how to access these funds for them
